FIRST AMERICAN POPE IN HISTORY! LET US REJOICE, HABEMUS PAPAM!
Pope Leo XIV or the then-Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was a former missionary to Peru. Before becoming the Pope, he served as one of the most important leaders in the Catholic Church as Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops — the office that appoints new bishops around the world.
With a degree in Mathematics and a Doctorate in Canon Law, he served as a mentor, pastor, and leader of Augustinians. He was also elected twice as the head of the ENTIRE Augustinian Order. In Peru, he became bishop of Chiclayo and was part of the fight for stability in the midst of a political crisis.
He was close to Pope Francis’ aspirations: caring for nature , helping the poor , and having a Church open to all. According to him, “A bishop is not a prince in his kingdom, but a servant of the people. “
Let the faithful rejoice, for a shepherd has been chosen! Let us all pray for the new Holy Father!

Carolina Catholic Apostolate Prayer
Heavenly Father, guide the Carolina Catholic Media apostolate through its mission to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people.
Inspire local programming that proclaims the Word of God and the New Evangelization in a manner worthy of bringing our diocesan faith community together in a true Spirit of fellowship and communion.
Encourage all Carolina Catholic listeners and viewers to step closer to the guiding graces found by living out the Sacramental life of our One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Lead us to humbly and intentionally answer Your call to share the body of Christ with all generations of Catholics. Bless and keep this ministry on the path of Your Glory.
We ask these things through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father in unity with the Holy Spirit, one God the Word eternal. Amen.
